Interview by Irina le Fey with German Playboy
What attracted you to becoming an escort, and what ultimately made you decide to do it?
Ever since I was a teenager, I have been fascinated by the erotic industry. I know there are many negative prejudices about paid dates, but I have always seen sex workers as strong, independent women. What appealed to me about working as an escort was that I could live out my personality and use my skills and erotic passions. One of my strengths is fulfilling the fantasies of the person I am with and exploring them together. I very much enjoy being the perfect girlfriend for a man during our date. I want to give him what he desires and be the girlfriend of his dreams. I love it when people can open up completely in my company because they feel loved and safe enough to do so.
Were there any challenges or difficulties you had to overcome in the beginning?
When I started out, I kept it secret and did not tell my friends or family. So I had no one I could turn to for advice. In my case I was lucky and brave enough to look for good working conditions, but many people do not do that. The hardest thing for me was the stigma. In my opinion it causes the greatest damage. When people have to hide this job, they lose touch with and the support of their social network of friends and family. They are also unable to raise their voice and fight for their rights. The most exhausting and most important step was speaking openly about my profession. My friends and family support me, respect me and are proud of my life choices. However I have to fight against all the negative prejudices in society every single day. But because I have my family and friends behind me, I will do everything I can to fight the stigma so that one day every sex worker can be open and proud of their work.
What do you enjoy most and least about working as an escort?
What I dislike most is the stigma and what it causes. Not so much for me personally, but for other workers who live or work under worse conditions. Sex work must be accepted because it will always exist and it always has existed. We can only choose whether it is legal and safe or illegal and unsafe. What I enjoy most is making people happy, giving them love, a safe space and intimacy.
The feeling that I can enrich the lives of others. Through my work I give my clients something emotionally and sexually that enriches their lives. I help them feel loved and valued. I give them the opportunity to fulfil their fantasies and live out parts of themselves without being judged. I also enjoy the flexibility, the independence, the freedom, both financial and in general. I want to show that sex work is not the same as rape and violence. I always feel safe and valued.
Is there anyone in your industry who inspires you?
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I study Sociology and Gender Studies, I love reading, pole dancing, spending time with my dogs, of course with my family and friends. I love improving my healthy lifestyle and learning about nutrition and health in general. I love wellness like saunas and hot baths, I love hiking, I paint, I am a goldsmith, so I am creative and love making things with my hands.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I do not have a typical day. But what I always do is a ten minute meditation in the morning, then drink a matcha and cuddle with my dogs, and the rest depends on whether I need to prepare for a date, whether I need to study, whether I need to work on marketing, or whether I am taking a day off to spend with my dog and friends and family. Since I am very active because of my dogs anyway, I do not need to do sports to stay fit, but I enjoy going for a run or doing yoga or pole dancing.
What do you want to achieve in the coming years?
I want to help give sex work a better image. An image that is more realistic and that the industry deserves. I want to help people entering the industry as much as possible with my knowledge and advice. For my personal life I want to buy a farm with my best friend and open an animal rescue centre, grow my own food and offer seminars there to support other people on their journey.
What are you proud of and why?
I am proud that despite all the prejudices I chose to become an escort because I felt that I love this profession. I went through a lot to support my decision but it was worth it. I now have my own escort agency, I have friends and family who support me, and I have a job worth fighting for. I feel that I have the knowledge, the experience and the passion for this job and can use this to support others in the industry.
What can people expect from you in the future?
I will try to become more politically active and use my position and my privileges as well as I can to fight for better rights and working conditions for all sex workers. I have worked hard to achieve the working conditions I have now and I have invested a great deal of time and energy in my career. Nevertheless I do not take it for granted. I know that many sex workers are still not able to use their power and their rights. I know that many have to keep their work secret because they suffer from the negative consequences of stigma. Escorts are usually more privileged or less stigmatised than other sex workers and many escorts want to avoid any connection to other forms of sex work in order to escape the negative stigma. However I want people to know that I started out as a stripper in the red light district. I did not start out as what people call a high class escort. I know the red light scene, I know the brothels and the clients there. I have simply managed to achieve the conditions I have now and that does not make me a better or more superior sex worker than others. I want to share my journey as much as possible with others in order to support other escorts.
